Koh Samui

Thailand’s second-largest island: palm-lined beaches, green hills and a slower rhythm than the mainland.

Samui at a glance

Samui is easy to love and easy to get around: a ring road, a handful of very different beaches, and an airport on the island itself. Choose your coast by the kind of days you want.

When to go

Samui’s seasons run late.

Unlike Phuket and Bangkok, Samui’s main rains arrive around October to December. The rest of the year is mostly warm and bright, with short showers.

Questions

Koh Samui, answered.

Short, factual answers.

When is the best time to visit Koh Samui?

From January to April the weather is generally dry and sunny, and July to September are usually good too. Samui’s main rainy season falls later than the rest of Thailand, roughly October to December, with November usually the wettest month. Rain tends to come in heavy bursts rather than all day.

How do I get to Koh Samui?

Fly into Samui International Airport, which has direct flights from Bangkok and some regional cities, or fly to Surat Thani on the mainland and take the ferry across.

Is Koh Samui good for families?

Yes. Calm beaches on the north coast and plenty to do on rainy days. Our concierge can arrange transfers and child-friendly excursions.

Do I need a car on Koh Samui?

It helps. A ring road circles the island. We can arrange car or scooter rental delivered to your villa, or a private driver.
